Qur’an at SAIS

Recite with care. Understand and reflect.

Qur’an learning is part of our daily programme. Tahseen, Tadabbur, Tafseer and Tahfiz are offered according to students’ readiness.

A relationship with the Qur’an.

The purpose is to nurture a relationship with Allah’s words through careful recitation, understanding, reflection and practice. Memorisation is one part of this relationship; learning also asks how Qur’anic guidance informs worship, adab and everyday choices.

Readiness matters. Students need appropriate guidance and support rather than an assumption that everyone should progress at the same pace or meet the same memorisation target.

Tahseen

Improving recitation, with attention to pronunciation, articulation and the rules of tajwid, according to the learner’s needs.

Tadabbur

Guided reflection on Qur’anic meanings and how their lessons relate to our intentions, conduct and responsibilities.

Tafseer

Teacher-guided explanation of meaning and context, drawing on recognised scholarship and using language appropriate to students’ understanding.

Tahfiz

Memorisation supported by revision, at a level suited to the student’s readiness. Careful recitation and sustained review remain important.

What does readiness-based learning mean?

The school adapts participation and expectations to students’ readiness. These four areas can complement one another; they are not presented here as a fixed sequence or identical daily allocation for every child. Ask the Qur’an teaching team about your child’s current focus, support and next step.

How does this connect with Tarbiyah and 5D?

Qur’anic guidance provides a foundation for faith, gratitude and responsibility. Tarbiyah connects this guidance with conduct. 5D thinking encourages careful study and reflection on creation; it does not replace Qur’an teaching or recognised Tafseer.

How can parents help?

Ask the teacher which recitation or revision practice is appropriate. Offer a calm, consistent opportunity to practise, listen with encouragement and avoid comparing one child’s pace with another’s. Discuss meaning and everyday conduct at an appropriate level.
